The Nita

As some of you know, I'm doing a fundraiser walk for cancer research this September. So on top of everything else I'm doing, starting the end of this month, I train for this.

4 times a week, according to my trainer. Between 6.5Km and 35.5km per walk.

I think about my current level of fitness (bahahaaha) and part of me goes "are you mental?"

But I'm working with a trainer - someone motivated & educated to help me. I've got clearance from my MD for this. I've put my chiro on notice about this (need to do that with the RMT). Still need to pick up the gear (walking shoes vs. casual shoes - difference in my feet will be huge).

Some of the big walk days happen at inconvenient times - I'll make them work.

So - I guess the long shot of this is "get ready to hear me ramble on (behind cuts, I promise) about my walk training."

(This is part of that "go big or go home" philosophy that is going to bite me in the ass one of these days, I'm sure of it....Rule 8, here I come.)

It entertains me that in trying to set up a day of food, ball and tunes in the car, I am booking MONTHS out. I know - this is normal for me and my circle of friends - yay for lives.

It still makes me giggle.

Good thing my friends love me and I them - otherwise, based on how much we see one another, we'd never speak. *G*

To all the nice folks who told me that they could help me this Saturday with the audition poster run, I'm going to let you sort of off the hook.

Because I won't have confirmation from the KWLT BoD until next week that we're going with the address we've got, I am loathe to put up posters that say "contact us at XXX to find out where they are being held".

Sooo...

I'm going to be putting posters up the following Saturday (December 2 for those of you paying attention). If you're still free, grand. If you're not, I understand that changing schedules sometimes mean casualties, and the holidays don't help that at all.

Many thanks to those of you who offered to make time for me on a potentially chilly November morning. I'll take advantage of you another time.

So I've decided that rather than breaking my head trying to figure out relative benefits to the different components between the two bents I'm looking at, I'll just go ride then and see which I like better.

Makes sense to me.

I'm heading over to Braun's for a late lunch test run. Hopefully I don't fall off. I have my helmet, though.

much_ado (and anyone else who's interested), if this works out, and the weather's cooperative, I'm thinking of getting it on Sunday, so maiden voyage would be that afternoon.

There's a monthly competitive coffee house that I...for want of a better word...compete in.

This month's Battle of the Bards will be held this Friday, June 17 (yes, tomorrow) at 8pm at the Button Factory (aka the Waterloo Community Arts Centre) Doors open at 7:30 and tickets are $5 in advance (email battlebards@gmail.com) or $8 at the door.

I'm going to be singing (yes, in *PUBLIC*).
