There's a monthly competitive coffee house that I...for want of a better word...compete in.

This month's Battle of the Bards will be held this Friday, June 17 (yes, tomorrow) at 8pm at the Button Factory (aka the Waterloo Community Arts Centre) Doors open at 7:30 and tickets are $5 in advance (email battlebards@gmail.com) or $8 at the door.

I'm going to be singing (yes, in *PUBLIC*).

Sorry - rant that started from a comment from a woman (presumably - hell, I don't know what gender anyone is any more) on a friend's LJ that women get raped, and men's chances are "practically nil".

According to this, 3% of American men have been raped (at least and reported it), and one in 10 rape victims (again, reported) are male.

I don't care if the cry in response is "see - 9 women and only one man" - ANYONE getting raped is a fucking crime. And having been someone who was convinced no one would believe her if she reported the rape, making such assine claims as "practically nil" mean that men are even LESS likely to report, simply because our jackassed society says that it doesn't happen...and starts the "so what's wrong with you" bullshit.

For women it used to be "you were dressed provocatively/in the wrong place at the wrong time". Men it's "you're not really a *man*"

It doesn't matter. Rape is a crime. Someone who is raped shouldn't have to put up with ASSININE BULLSHIT from anyone. Male. Female. I don't give a shit.

Anyone that tells someone who's had a crime committed against them that it shouldn't have happened to them, and so therefore it doesn't "really count" needs to have their head examined with a clue by four.

Fuck, this makes me mad.....
