the_nita: usual shot when I'm directing - since I'm *not* looking at actors, I must be working on the script. (Japanese)
Today started early - 4am, to be precise - dangers of getting 6 hours of sleep straight (with one bathroom break).

Mom & I did tai chi for about 45 minutes - at some point, when I'm not a spaz, I will get some of the moves right too.

Headed into Hayama for lunch at "Japanese Restaurant" (no, I'm not kidding) - semi-cafeteria style place, reasonable food, lunch for three adults was 3300 yen (give or take), when 1 yen is roughly on par with 1 cent US.

Then the hard part of the day - Grandma. Got to the hospital, and was sideblinded with how bad she looked. Now understand that she's 93 (I was wrong about the earlier age guess), and has had alzheimers for many years now - she's also been in the hospital since October (today was 158th day, according to Grandpa). She is occasionally on an IV (just enough to keep her kidneys working properly), with people trying to get her to eat/drink all day long. She doesn't want to do either. I have said before that as far as I know, the force of personality that was my grandmother disappeared a year ago? Yah, well, if I ever claimed she isn't in pain, I was dead wrong. she's not hooked up on major pain killers, but she's *clearly* not pain-free. I held her hand for a great deal of the afternoon, and could see as well as feel all the bones and veins. There's barely enough there to call it human let alone anything more.

My grandmother in my head is when she was in her late 60s and early 70s, when I was a child. Strong willed, always perfectly "done" woman, who smiled sometimes and shook her head at my mother other times. The poor lady in that hospital bed cannot be my obachan.

Dinner was at the (kid you not) Chinese Restaurant - again, good food, done with a Japanese flair. Yakisoba (fried noodles) with vegetables & shrimp - big juicy ones too.

Going to need to hit the sack early tonight - I'm *wiped*. Hopefully I stay asleep a little longer.
