Things you learn that you might not have needed to know

When you don't have the appropriate manual for the D&D game you're entering, googling the magic item you and the DM selected for your character isn't always the best choice.

None of them to do with D&D.

Time

A very wise friend of mine said recently that her acid test of friendship is that time & distance do not change the fundamentals of the relationship.

Today I got to see someone I do not spend enough time with. Who is too far from me for such.

What makes me smile? The first 10 minutes I saw her, she did not let go of my hand.

Yah.

Nothing of import changed. Life will change us, but mere time & distance? Bah - ain't got nothing on us.

I hate having these kinds of dilemmas...

As those of you who've paid attention before know, I am in lust with many of the yarns at Near Sea Naturals - they have organic animal & plant based yarns - bamboo, merino, cotton, "banana silk", hemp - really lovely , reasonably priced, and a format of materials that calls to my wanna-be-hippy side.

Here's the issue.

They're based in New Mexio.

The W-B-H in me goes "gah - surely you can find higher-minded yarns closer to you.

You'd think that.

*sigh*

Most yarn stores - not so much. I am usually doing well if I can find them carrying something that isn't just plastic yarn and is actually a natural fibre. Then asking for ethical fibres means the price triples.

NSN? They have really reasonable prices.

Gah.

Good price, good product, huge shipping issues.

Local, good product, price gouging.

Gah.

I hate making decisions like this.

Okay, it's closer...sort of

Utterly gorgeous hemp yarns at Lana Knits - Hemp for Knitting - which is at least in Canada.

In BC.

*sigh*

Great stuff on the west coast at Lana.

Great stuff on the east coast - Handmaid yarns, FibreArtist....

Here in Ontario? Not so much....
