Signal Boost: [LLD] {PSA} broadband announcement re:Closing Weekend ticket availability

Dateline: [livejournal.com profile] much_ado

the reviews (at least those i've seen across LJ) of the show have been overwhelmingly positive. even the Record's review of our problem-plagued Opening Night was gently positive.

this has translated to great word-of-mouth sales, and both the friday and saturday shows of this middle weekend sold out completely, with ~90% of the seats sold on reservation or presale. this means it's highly likely all three shows next weekend will also sell out fast. walk-in ticket availability just doesn't seem to be happening, so don't count on getting tickets that way.

ergo, if you'd like to come see the show before it closes on saturday BOOK YOUR TICKETS RIGHT NOW.

Happy birthday

To the woman who has always been open, honest and incredibly loving to me. She who kicks my ass & ego when needed, and cuddles me when I cannot cope any more.

Lady? I am enormously graced to have you in my life. Thank you for sticking it out with me.

To the true Answer of the Question - Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] much_ado!

KWLT

I have just told the board of directors of KWLT to go take a flying fuck at a rolling doughnut.

If you want or need the particulars, email me. I won't be discussing them here.

This is a personal reaction to what is in my mind entirely cowardly behaviour.

[livejournal.com profile] much_ado, [livejournal.com profile] oldgrover - unless they blacklist me and prevent me, I'm still doing your productions, unless you'd rather I step down.

I am so angry I could chew steel and spit nails.

Ever wonder what I do?

I'm producing [livejournal.com profile] much_ado's upcoming production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses (more commonly known as Dangerous Liasons (yes, like the movie - same author, different format, slightly different ending, then add [livejournal.com profile] much_ado's own take on the story))

I'm looking for a production assistant. I will do my level best to teach you what I'm doing as we go along. My credentials? I've never lost money on a show. Many of the shows I've produced for have had multiple sell out nights. I do get this exercise. It's work, but it's not taxing, with a good production crew.

If you are interested in talking about this more with me, let me know. I have already started the process and I'd love to have someone with me for the ride.

Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] much_ado. Thank you for being part of my life - I'm richer for you in mine. Thank you for always trusting me to be honest with you - it keeps me on my toes. Thank you for always being honest with me - I know where I stand with you.

Here's to another year, more knowledge and always more fun. I love you, doll.

Because she's so much more articulate than I am

Signal boosting [livejournal.com profile] much_ado's very good post about KWLT:

many of you know that i and several of my friends are involved with a local theatre troupe here, Kitchener-Waterloo Little Theatre (kwlt.org). [livejournal.com profile] quicktongue's wife theAngel is currently directing "The Importance of Being Earnest", which opens tomorrow, and involves several members of my FList. the next mainstage show on the docket is [livejournal.com profile] the_nita's "Three Musketeers", which also includes a number of LJ folk in the production. next season, i'll be directing "Dangerous Liaisons". so everyone who reads here is, in a way, connected to KWLT through one or more of us, even if you don't realize it and will likely never be local enough to come see a show :)

KWLT is still rebuilding their home facilities after a 2002 fire, which means we're always in need of funds. as doing t-shirts via Cafepress has recently come up as a fundraising idea, we're now in need of some creative help to design some cool shirts. we've been using the legend, "The Show Will Go On", as we're (i believe) the only theatre company in ontario that has continued to produce full seasons in spite of the loss of our permanent space - it's the biggest reason *why* KWLT is still rebuilding five and a half years later. we've been insistent on maintaining the show schedule rather than taking a concentrated time to rebuild, lest we lose momentum as a company.

we're appealing to the broader public for support, both in terms of straight-up financial contributions, pointers to deep pockets we can approach, and now artistic help for further fundraising initiatives. there are a lot of talented artists on my FList, so i'm appealing to you directly to entice you to help design a fabulously cool t-shirt design for this theatre company. bonus points if it's a transportable design we can also incorporate into posters and flyers we're going to distribute around the region. we can offer design credit and our undying gratitude, and i personally will guarantee you a free ticket for life to any KWLT show i'm involved in if we use your design :)

if you'd like to know more about the company, including the story of the fire and rebuild efforts, please visit www.kwlt.org. if you'd like to kick around some ideas about designs, email me; if i can't answer your questions, i'll put you together with someone who can.

anyone who has been reading my LJ since i was first accepted to direct last season's "Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead" for KWLT knows how much i enjoy this company, and how important it is to me that the show really does go on. anyone who reads [livejournal.com profile] the_nita will understand how KWLT can become like air we breathe.

if you can help us keep this fabulous theatre company on track and finish the rebuild, you'll be doing a wondrous thing, and i can't tell you how many people will thank you for it.

Like I said - she's good at this speaking through the written word - so much more so than yours truly - Nita

Technically, it's not entirely my idea

A number of years ago, [livejournal.com profile] greensabre27 was telling me his "if I win the lottery" story.

Since then, apparently it's been percolating in my head.

You see - I know a lot of people. Like a lot.

And I have a small requirement (evidently) in my choice of people I hang out with. They need to be smart, and they need to have some talent/skill. Yah - I know. Inspecific. But it seems to work.

Here's the thing. Generally (and sadly, not all the time), when someone says "Hey Nita, I need to do X, how do I do that?" and I don't know the answer, I do know who they could talk to find the answer.

And I get to thinking.

If I win the lottery (thereby assuring us of startup capital), I think I'm going to offer my network of friends a job working for a consulting company.

What do we consult on? What's not working for you? Likely, we have someone who can solve that problem for you.

Rates? It'll depend on how much of a moron we think you are (though I should probably have someone better with words ([livejournal.com profile] much_ado, [livejournal.com profile] bridgeoutahead, [livejournal.com profile] hel_ana, etc, etc, etc comes to mind) word that...).

Laughter - my husband just walked in and said "Oh great - you're making the A-Team"

Heeeheee...that means I get to be Hannibal.

Or Face.

I've always wanted to be Face.

Something [livejournal.com profile] much_ado said triggered a thought cascade.

Friday, I went out dancing.

Just before I left, [livejournal.com profile] much_ado smiled one of her incandescent "life is good" smiles. A bunch of questions that had been wandering around in my head resolved in a gestalt. That, and her smile, brought about a smile on my own face, and me telling her (from my lofty position of 2' above her), "I love you."

She told me I looked like someone we both knew when I said things like that, and I cannot remember if it was said or just "heard" that she was waiting for the other shoe to drop, so I leaned down and told her (in her ear - Abstract is loud) that it is important to me that I tell the people I love that I do. "That's all."

She said something (and here's where my brain gets a bit fuzzy, cause it was late for me and all), but it was something on the order of "At least this time the grin isn't so wolfish."

I started thinking.

I know I can and do have a very wolfish grin, usually reserved for when I think I can huckster my way through something or when someone's handed me a challenge I think I can ace.

I don't think either of those was the case.

I didn't know I used that grin when things suddenly make sense. (Anyone else seen me do this? I tend not to see my own face much.)

I still love her. Suspect that's not changing any time soon - more and more, she's an incredibly special human being to me and by my definitions of love, I do love her.

It's also really fun for me to watch her be happy. I guess that's at least a goodly part of what's kept me near her (from my end) this long. She glows when she's happy. It's a good thing to see.

But I'm doing more thinking about my smiles today. and what they tell the people around me - especially those close to me. If it's important that my words match my actions, it would be nice if my facial expressions matched my emotions (unless, of course, and always reserving the right to, the walls are deliberately up to hide them).

If [livejournal.com profile] much_ado's going to up the ante...

If you pre-purchase your tickets to "Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead" through me, i will give you..... a backrub.

Not that I'm competitive or really good with my hands or anything...

R&G ticket presales now available

(More or less reposting [livejournal.com profile] much_ado's post, but with some semblance of capitals and removing extraneous commentary towards the producer)

If you're a non-member, you can purchase (not just reserve, but you must actually pay for) tickets for a specific evening for the members' price of $10/ticket through any of the cast or crew of KWLT's production of "Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead."

For those living under a rock for the past several months, here are the show dates again :)

Thurs-Sat, March 22-24 and 29-31, 8pm curtain all shows.

To purchase said tickets, here's what we need:

  • the names associated with each ticket

  • your contact phone/email information

  • number of tickets required,

  • the nights that the tickets are required,

  • does the patron require the tickets in advance or will they be held at the box office,

  • amount and method of payment (cash or cheque made payable to "Kitchener-Waterloo Little Theatre")

No payment = no reservation. I believe, and will confirm, that paid reservations can be refunded at the door.

Contrary to [livejournal.com profile] much_ado's post, I think I'm putting together a little contest for the cast/crew for ticket sales - prize to be determined and announced at Sunday's rehearsal (and then email). Not that I have a competitive streak in me or anything.

Looking forward to hearing from you all.
