Fatboy Slim's version of Because We Can came up on the playlist just now.

It entertains me that a song that is about a very female dance is now forever a very testosterone charged strut for me in my head.

Thanks, boys....

but I have to say this for now, as I said it in the wee hours of this morning.

I gave my childhood heroes to my friends and I was not disappointed. I can never repay this cast & crew for that.

While I've been bouncing off the walls with the addition of the matinee for Musketeers, I've got a song stuck in my head?

Is it the bows music (which to me epitomizes the boys)? No.

It's the "evil is on the rise" song from act 2 of Dr. Horrible.

It's interesting.....

For immediate release:

KWLT announces the addition of a Saturday matinee to its successful
run of The Three Musketeers, by Willis Hall, adapted from the novel by
Alexandre Dumas.

Hot off a sell out opening week, and at audience demand for more
opportunities to see this lively swashbuckling romp, KWLT is pleased
to offer an additional show. We will now be offering tickets for The
Three Musketeers for this Saturday, July 26, for a 2pm matinee.

This tongue-in-cheek version of the classic story follows the story of
D'Artagnan, a poor Gascon youth who goes to Paris to join the
Musketeers and make his fortune. He is befriended by three of the
Musketeers, Athos, Porthos & Aramis, sharing their adventures and
foiling the evil plans of the Cardinal Richelieu and Milady DeWinter
to expose the love affair between Queen Anne and the Duke of
Buckingham, discrediting her. Slick, sexy and full of sword fighting,
KWLT proudly presents this comic romp of the glory days of France.

Cast & crew of the performance invite you to secure your tickets
quickly - evening shows are selling fast, and we expect this matinee
to do the same.

Nita needed that. I occasionally should not be out without adult supervision. But that's okay too. Neither were they.

I have a brilliant boy.

And now, I have a bath waiting for me.....

98 out of roughly 100 in the audience.

Really good show. Really good crowd.

I love my show.

We're essentially sold out for tomorrow and I think there's 10 tickets for Saturday.

If you are planning on coming this Friday or Saturday and you haven't booked your tickets yet, you need to email boxoffice@kwlt.org NOW. As of this morning, there were only 10 or so tickets left for each of those nights.

We're thisclose to selling out 2 of the 3 shows for this week.

And people ask me if I'm excited...
the_nita: usual shot when I'm directing - since I'm *not* looking at actors, I must be working on the script. (3 Musketeers)
I'm tired.

Really tired.

The intense tired of "not enough sleep over too few days", as opposed to the "want to fall down crying because I haven't slept more than 2 hours for months now".

I can feel my heartbeat.

Without trying to.

In all of my extremities.

Oy.

I'm done being the director.

They belong to N now. The cast rocks my world.

I cannot express how utterly grateful I am for them.

I'd like my brain back now.

I got the characters out of my brain.

They're on the stage now.

Can I have my brain back, so I can stop thinking Musketeers 24/7?

*whimper*

I do have work I need to do.....
the_nita: usual shot when I'm directing - since I'm *not* looking at actors, I must be working on the script. (3 Musketeers)
You need to see this.

Dear gods.

Dear gods.

Sweet baby jesus, it's good.
the_nita: usual shot when I'm directing - since I'm *not* looking at actors, I must be working on the script. (3 Musketeers)
My cast & crew rock my tiny world.

My set is built. My set that involved building out the entire stage so that we could fit 14 swordsmen on it at once. Plus three stair cases.

It's GORGEOUS.

All the bits & pieces of the build are done. The lights are hung, and shy of a small technical difficulty, we would have had lighting levels done tonight as well.

Sound is still a bit of an issue, but that's as much random chaos of the universe (the amp went? What the hell?) as it is the director still dithering about pre & post show music.

Costumes are going to be gorgeous. Porthos certainly already is. Louis' coat will be stunning. The women are going to be enchanting. My costume mistress has a tonne of work to do still, but there are backups coming tomorrow and things will be grand.

So thanks to a suggestion from my genius fight choreographer, fight practice took place on the steps of the Church Theatre - oddly enough, on a Saturday in St. Jacobs in the summer, we handed out bunches and bunches of business cards about the show. To the point where we're discussing having some of them out to practice on both Saturdays during the day - perhaps pre-pre-show fight practice.

Props are reasonably organized - there are still a few things to be dealt with, but K is making things happen.

Holy crap, but the stuff that looked like new raw wood when I saw it this morning now looks amazing.

We even got in drills of the fights on the new stage, giving everyone a first taste of what "we don't have to pretend there are stairs & walls and the like any more" really looks like. Sweet gods, but it'll be sexy.

If you don't have your tickets reserved, SERIOUSLY - get on it. This is going to be a hot show. Email boxoffice@kwlt.org or call 519-886-0660 to book your tickets.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I love this cast - they've made the people in my head real. I love my crew - they're making the near impossible demands of the crazy director a reality.

Dude - I love theatre.
the_nita: usual shot when I'm directing - since I'm *not* looking at actors, I must be working on the script. (Smile)
To the bad:

  • sinus headache over left eye - watch for impending sinus infection - this is an early warning sign for me.

  • sore pecs, glutes & quads today

  • Still about 8 hours sleep down on the week, and likely about 2-3 days worth on the month - and we're swinging into tech weekend...

To the good:

  • Don't feel as wrecked as I should on this little sleep

  • Good kind of sore muscles

  • Lunch date with sweet lady

  • Walking date tonight

  • Good numbers for 3M presales sofar

  • Things for tech weekend are shaping up nicely

Yah - overall, I'm good.

Yesterday was long, ending in a glorious double run of act one. I'm happily in lust with my show. It's funny, it's tightening up nicely, and I cannot wait to see it with everything - costumes, set, lights, music...

Couldn't sleep last night - brain would NOT shut down - fell asleep around 3am, to awake again at 4, then again at 6:20.

And I have a work out planned today at noonthirty with She Who Kicks My Arse.

This should be an interesting day as well.

  • Show's shaping up - still a few places that need work, but not a surprise. Over all, things are looking very good, and heartbreakingly sexy in places.

  • Over the past week, we've emptied the office of doom, pulled up & disposed of the carpet, refloored in gorgeous bamboo, repainted, turfed the old blinds, installed new (accessible for washing) curtains, started the reload in (omg, space), dekippling seriously as we go.

  • Prebuild for the show is done - all the knee walls for the extension, flats are ready to be installed, still need a few set pieces, photos & to finalise the music.

  • Publicity stuff for upcoming season

  • Work - especially with lots of coworkers off.

  • Visiting with a dear friend and saying good bye again

  • Parenting

  • Walk prep - though not as much as I should - something's had to give

Yah....whee
